They studied the eating habits of birds for several years by feeding them from prototypes at their dining room window (while eating their own breakfast).
Bird Silo is an 'updated' version of the classic mesh tube feeder, made for birds who like to eat while clinging vertically - like chickadees, woodpeckers, nuthatches, and titmice. The shape also deters birds that some consider pests such as sparrows and pigeons, who have a harder time using it because they prefer to perch or sit on platforms. Also cardinals and other birds who prefer platforms won't generally use it. It's a specialty feeder for clinging song birds and woodpeckers.
You lift the top cone, pour in sunflower seeds or peanuts, and the feeder fills from the bottom up. It is recommended you only put out enough that can be consumed in a couple of days during rainy or humid weather.
Made from 100% recycled plastic. The rope is also 100% recycled.
