What makes these “Royal” trugs dates back to 1851 when Thomas Smith attended the The Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace and he was lucky enough to have his stand visited by Queen Victoria, who ordered some trugs as gifts for members of the Royal Family. Shortly thereafter he was awarded the Royal warrant.
